EU Programmes

The European Union is an important donor, in the European Union and world-wide. The goal of the Union's financing programmes is economic growth and prosperity for all citizens in the Union, a competitive Europe and a sustainable environment. Many of such objectives are achieved with the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), which is the stated goal of the Lisbon Agenda. The Lisbon Agenda combines knowledge and innovation as the main elements for European development.

The various programmes of the European Union pursue exactly this goal, to promote knowledge and innovation for a better, more competitive and liveable Europe. However, these programmes are numerous, and they are complex. Complexity cannot be avoided to guarantee fairness to everybody.

Amongst the many programmes, the most important are the pre-accession funds, the structural funds or the Research Programmes such as the new seventh framework programme.
