Spatial Data for Nature Protection — INSPIRE in Bulgaria

Initiative with the goal to:

  • inform about the use of spatial data for nature protection;
  • create awareness of the European Directive INSPIRE;
  • exchange experiences for the implementation of INSPIRE in protected areas and other fields.

The initiative aims at discussing issues related to the implementation of the INSPIRE Directive (Infrastructure for Spatial Information in Europe) for the creation and use of spatial data in the field of nature protection and management. The initiative is partly funded by the European project: "Best Practice Network for Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDI) in Nature Conservation - Nature-SDIplus".

The initiative for "Spatial Data for Nature Protection" started with a two-day workshop in Sofia, Bulgaria, on 1st and 2nd of December, 2009.
